How to Properly Use Dry Shampoo
There’s nothing like using real shampoo, but when you’re in need of a quick refresh, dry shampoo is a quick and easy solution to consider.
Dry shampoo is a quick fix that has been gaining popularity in the recent years. It comes in the form of powder, which you sprinkle into the hair and massage into the scalp. After letting it settle for a minute or two, style your hair with a brush, and you’re good to go. (Learn more about dry shampoo here.)
While dry shampoo is a great quick fix, you have to use it properly to make the most of its benefits. When applied the wrong way, it can make hair look dry and dull. Here is a helpful guide on how to use dry shampoo properly:
1. Wash your hands. Before applying dry shampoo, make sure your hands are clean. You don’t want to transfer more dirt and oil to your hair.
2. Shake the container to remove clumps, then squeeze about a tablespoon of the powder onto your hands.
3. Rub your hands together to spread the powder evenly, then apply to your hair from root to tip. You can also use an applicator bottle and comb, but some prefer using their hands for a more controlled application.
4. Work the dry shampoo through your hair until the powder completely settles into your hair and scalp. Also, try flipping your head upside-down and massage the product into your scalp. Make sure to cover areas that are greasy.
Tip: For added volume, gently scrunch up your roots while applying dry shampoo. If specks end up on your clothes, try to blow or shake them off instead of rubbing them in.
